My father was/is an Acadian man
series of watercolours on paper and installation, 2015

My father was/is an Acadian man is a collaborative project by Lisa Theriault and Phil Mercier.

This projects draws from the duos similar experiences in relation to their Acadian heritage and the French language. Theriault grew up in an English speaking household in Charlottetown, PE, where Acadians are relatively few. Visits to her grandparents in the small Acadian towns of Cheticamp, NS and Meteghan, NS, and a few remaining Acadian traditions (continued by her father) are the last ties she has to this heritage. Mercier similarly grew up in an English speaking household in Moncton, NB with an Acadian francophone father.

Thank you to the Mt A Pop-Up Fund for their support in making this exhibition possible.
